The "Southeast Asia Deaf LGBTQ Conference 2021" produced by Deaf-LGBTQ-Center in a cross-border connection and screened four times in September 2021 will be released at once at the Sekmai Tournament! Panel discussion with Laos, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, Vietnam, Japan, and other countries! The local parties will tell you about the situation of the deaf LGBTQ in Southeast Asia with a large volume of about 3.5 hours!
Southeast Asia Deaf LGBTQ Conference 2021
This international project was created by utilizing the Japan Foundation Asia Center Asia-Cultural Creation Collaboration Grant. The Deaf-LGBTQ-Center invited the deaf LGBTQ people from the Philippines to Japan (Fukuoka) in fiscal 2019 to exchange the deaf LGBTQ between Japan and the Philippines. With this as an opportunity, the circle of exchange with the Southeast Asian Deaf LGBTQ people expanded, leading to the 2021 Southeast Asian Deaf LGBTQ Conference.
In the case of the Deaf LGBTQ, although it depends on the situation in each country, it is almost common that they are isolated and information is limited. In Japan, we would like to revitalize the activities of Deaf LBGTQ parties from Southeast Asian countries through mutual exchanges online, and connect them to the "Asia Deaf LBGTQ Conference" in the near future.
Also, it is possible that the LGBTQ people in Japan have achieved a certain degree of organization, and those who have experienced holding national conventions every year are motivated to create similar shapes in their own countries. I think you can expect enough. The deaf LGBTQ side of Japan will also be aware of the harsh conditions of each country (many countries do not recognize LGBTQ religiously), and will further establish Japanese activities for mutual exchange and support. I hope you will be motivated.
